SISTERS GRIMM LTD - Producers



Sisters Grimm Ltd was formed as a partnership between Pietra Mello-Pittman and Ella Spira after they collaborated on projects for the Royal Ballet.  

Ella and Pietra both love and are inspired by the visual arts. They have both been classically trained in their art forms, but share an interest in contemporary art and new technologies. 

 

The Sisters Grimm intend to combine expressive movement, dance, music and art. This cross-disciplinary work which allows for a dance experience outside the theatre. In the words of Sondheim, "Acknowledging the difference between stage and film" 

Having produced their first product; a ground breaking short ballet film, presenting a fusion of traditional ballet and cutting edge digital technology, Sisters Grimm Ltd aim to produce more of the highest quality of music and dance through both live performance and cinematic format entertainment.

They will keep the international tradition of folk tales alive in a current cinematic medium through narrative ballet.

They will make the art form of classical ballet more accessible to an international audience.

"Folktales" is a general term for different varieties of traditional narrative.  The telling of stories appears to be a cultural universal, common to basic and complex societies alike. Even the forms folktales take are certainly similar from culture to culture. Also it is considered to be an oral tale to be told for everybody." 

We aim to build our reputation as an outfit that bring folk tales, from any country to fruition and we have two projects we are working on at present.
